The Bible teaches that baptism is a symbol and that a person should be baptized to publicly declare their relationship with God through the person of Christ.  Baptism depicts our life before Christ, dying with Christ in His death, and being raised as He was raised to new life! 

 

While the act of baptism is commanded in scripture, the act itself does not save.  It is a picture and testimony of one's repentance and faith in Christ.
